Day 8 - Dubrovnik - City
Tour of Dubrovnik & 4X4 Tour Konavle Valley
Old
Town Dubrovnik
 After breakfast at hotel,
the group will begin your private guided, in-depth tour that includes a
terrific, panoramic ride on the town's newly refurbished "Sky Gondla."
From the top, where you can visit the War Museum for a bit, you have
magnificent views of the entire Dubrovnik Riviera and Countryside
regions! Dubrovnik, which is on UNESCO's List of World Heritage Sites,
due to its exceptional beauty and rich cultural heritage is an ancient
town, surrounded by strong ramparts and fortresses, is an 'outdoor
museum' of architectural and cultural masterpieces, scrupulously
preserved over the centuries. A pleasant walk through old town, down
the Placa (Stradun), will take us to the Rector's Palace, the Dominican
Monastery, a 13th C. old 'still working' pharmacy, and so much more!
Then
early this afternoon the group heads out into the breathtaking
Dubrovnik countryside for an SUV adventure fit for people of all ages!
It's up, up, into the foothills to a personal,
local friend's property... the most beautiful Agro-Tourism property in the entire region!
Here the group will convene for a wonderful,
private wine reception & share in the preparation of and
devouring of a traditional 'peka' lunch with the property owner. He'll
show you in detail, first hand how the property still makes its
own wines, olive oils, and 'peka' dishes is the exact same way, and
with the exact carved wooden instrumentation as the way their ancestors
made them 100's of years before. Your hunger will strike upon the
delectable scent of dried figs, gourmet ham, smoked cheese, lamb and
veal baked under the iron bell, 
home-baked
bread, and other specialties of this
renowned region. In the gentle valley of
Konavle, in the lush greenery of the
old woods, in an ancient villa, time seems to have stopped. Still,
there is a place in the vicinity of Dubrovnik which is free from
busy traffic and crowds.
We then
have the opportunity to see the dancers at Cilipi, dressed in the
region's beautiful native costumes, and whirling around in pure
delight! And the music... you could just sit back and listen all
day. We’ll finish off the tour with a final ‘grappa’ toast with
our new, local friends.
